Counseling, and psychotherapy can result in significant benefits to you, including reaching goals, improving interpersonal relationships and resolution of specific concerns and issues that led you to seek services. Working towards these benefits requires commitments on your part. Those commitments include active involvement, honesty, openness and a willingness to stretch beyond your comfort zone.
When I counsel adults, I use an interactive style. Many of the reviews will indicate that my clients find this to be the most beneficial approach. My aim is to create a good connection. This allows my clients to feel safe, accepted and comfortable enough with the therapeutic process of exploring issues and to do the work of moving forward towards change and/or healing.
When I teach individuals or a group of people about anger management, they will gain the tools to help them navigate this difficult emotion. They will also gain knowledge and understanding of the emotions and how to recognize it before it’s too intense. I also teach a group at a church (which happens twice a year).
My career began working with adolescents in a residential setting. Adolescents and children are very genuine and sincere and will easily turn away from counseling if they do not develop trust with myself. Confidentiality is crucial to maintain trust and confidence in the counseling relationship. I discuss the guidelines around confidentiality in the beginning with both parents and child. There will be times when I consult with the parents. The topics usually discussed are communication, discipline, co-parenting, single, and/or divorced parent issues.
Probably the most common diagnosis in children today. I teach the children how to cope with the distractions that come with this diagnosis as well as working with parents on some strategies to help parent a child diagnosed with ADHD/ADD. Here is a link to the magazine, “ADDitude”, which focuses on the many areas of ADD/ADHD that are far too comprehensive to list here. https://www.additudemag.com/
Many of my clients that deal with this issue have found my approach of coaching and support to help them learn to live a life that is free of substances, and they are enjoying life. I have over 30 years of experience working with these issues..
I will be there with you to guide you through these intense emotions and feelings. I will actively engage in conversations and make sure that you and I understand the process and the development of trust has been obtained.
